Abstract
The purpose of this study is to diagnose the pathology of inflationary accounting implementation in the Iranian financial reporting environment and identify the requirements for its effective implementation. This study is applied in terms of purpose and qualitative and exploratory in terms of method. Research data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with 15 experts in the fields of accounting, financial reporting, and capital markets in 1405, and sampling continued until theoretical saturation was achieved. Data analysis and prioritization were performed using the Fuzzy Delphi method and Excel 2016 software. The findings showed that inflationary accounting, despite its capacity to improve the quality of financial reporting and provide more realistic information in inflationary conditions, does not have the necessary efficiency to meet the needs of users in the current Iranian model. The most important obstacle to its implementation is the superiority of the costs of establishment and implementation over the benefits obtained from it. Also, the Fuzzy Delphi results showed that training specialized human resources is the most important factor in success in implementing inflationary accounting. After that, developing professional interactions, amending laws and regulations, coordinating with the tax system, formulating transparent standards, and institutional support are priorities. The findings indicate that the challenges of implementing inflationary accounting, in addition to technical aspects, are rooted in institutional, educational, and economic factors. Therefore, creating legal and professional infrastructure, strengthening human capital, and promoting specialized interactions can pave the way for the successful establishment of inflationary accounting, improving the quality of financial information, and increasing the efficiency of the financial reporting system in the inflationary conditions of the Iranian economy.
