Abstract
Corruption in municipal contracts is one of the fundamental challenges of urban management that has negative economic, social and political consequences. Lack of transparency in the bidding processes, contracting and monitoring of project implementation provides the basis for abuse and violation of public rights. Blockchain technology, as a distributed and immutable system, provides the ability to record transactions in a transparent and traceable manner and can play an effective role in reducing corruption and increasing transparency in municipal contracts. This study aimed to investigate the applications of blockchain in urban contract management and analyze its impact on transparency and corruption control. Initial results show that the use of blockchain can make bidding and contracting processes more transparent, secure and monitorable, although there are also challenges such as legal obstacles, implementation costs and the need for staff training. The findings of this study can guide policymakers and urban managers to effectively utilize new technologies to increase transparency and combat corruption.
