The effect of CEO rotation on Stable Dividend Policy and the amount of dividend distribution according to the ownership structure

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of CEO rotation on sustainable dividend policy and the amount of dividend distribution according to the ownership structure. Research in terms of purpose is part of applied research and research method in terms of nature and content is cause and effect. The research was conducted in the framework of deductive-inductive reasoning and panel analysis was used to analyze the hypotheses. The statistical population of the research was all the companies admitted to the Tehran Stock Exchange and using the systematic elimination sampling method, 140 companies were selected as the research sample in The 9-year period between 2012 and 2020 was investigated. The results of the research hypotheses test showed that CEO turnover has a negative and significant effect on the sustainable dividend policy; But the rotation of the CEO does not affect the amount of profit distribution; Institutional ownership has a negative effect on sustainable dividend policy; However, the effect of government ownership and the moderating role of government and institutional ownership on the relationship between CEO turnover and sustainable dividend policy are not significant. State ownership has a positive effect and institutional ownership has a negative effect on sustainable dividend policy; But the moderating role of government and institutional ownership on the relationship between CEO turnover and profit sharing is not significant.
